Most prescription eyeglasses these days have high impact plastic lenses. They will tend to scratch fairly easily if not cleaned carefully.
I got the lens with prescriptions in it and asked the doctor, “What about medium vision. I live in a medium vision world.”
After assuring me there would be no problems, I got the lens.
I see semi-clear images medium vision and clear near and far vision. Also, have halos around every round lighted object at night, which makes it very difficult to drive.
My suggestion...
Get the old-fashioned clear lens. Contacts or glasses would be better.
If looking for second opinion see another doctor, none is us are qualified to answer your question.
I had halos for awhile, but they have gone away. Was your surgery recent?
I was very nearsighted for most of my life. Glasses since the first grade and changed every six months for about 16 years.
First LASIK surgery about 15 years ago and about six years ago cataract surgery in both eyes-I wanted as close to 20/20 in each eye. I need glasses for reading and close up work. I am glad I went for correcting my myopia!
Liberal doctors often answer questions in terms that supports their position on surgery...
If they didn’t believe in what they were doing they would do something else. So asking everyday people is a good ‘second opinion’.
The experiences of fellow citizens can make a big difference.
We had a family cancer situation some years back and it turned out the doctor had prescribed such a high dose of contrast for an MRI that another doctor risked her job to tell us our family member might be in pain the rest of his life so this one doctor could get a clearer picture to look at for less than a minute.
That kind of thinking is common in the medical field... what’s convenient for the doctor often trumps what’s best for the patient.
No. I’ve had my implants for around 10 years.
Seriously consider getting a second opinion.
This is something that every patient should have to decide. There are a few ways of putting it together. But it is wonderful to have a choice.
Again, since you seem to be confused, seriously consider getting a second opinion.
PAY the upcharge and get full MULTIFOCAL lenses(man-made), no more glasses near OR far. They can even correct for astigmatism
I had man-made multifocal lenses placed 6 years ago and it is the best thing I ever did for myself, have not worn glasses since. I can read print nearly 1/32” in size easily. Cost $10,500 for both (elective surgery)
I had cataract surgery and the blurriness was gone, not only that but it corrected my color blindness that I didn’t even know I had.
My wife was right, those towels really are green and not blue as I thought they were all those years. Everything is so much sharper.
Similar experience when I first got hearing aids, those turn signal blinkers really do click when you turn them on...Just as she said they do.
I got lenses in both eyes because they were free. The lenses corrected my vision to 20-25. I wear glasses for reading.
What you are being offered is essentially “Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)”. This is a process that removes the aging, dysfunctional lens, then inserts an intra-ocular lens (IOL) into the now empty lens capsule to restores vision to a level that often cannot be achieved with LASIK surgery. Patients over 45 will often begin experiencing poor quality near, intermediate and even distance vision due to the natural aging of the lens, called “presbyopia”. These lens changes eventually end up causing cataracts. But many patients suffer from gradually worsening vision during their 40’s, 50’s and beyond. Instead of waiting years for a cataract to fully develop, RLE permanently replaces the dysfunctional lens in a 5-10 minute painless procedure. New technology intraocular lens implants (IOLs) can offer visual freedom by restoring distance, intermediate and near vision (all 3 vs distance and intermediate with IOL placed in front of the lens). The columnar lens allows for all 3 corrections in all 4 quadrants of the eye (unlike typical multifocal eyeglasses where they are just top to bottom). RLE procedure, like cataract surgery, is usually performed one eye at a time, generally 5-10 days apart. Halos around lighted object at night can be bothersome initially but tend to improve in most after a few months. There are certain lenses that can eliminate this but one would need to give up correcting near vision, but a good option for truck drivers as it eliminates the halos.
Just be sure you get a good surgeon. Mine were done 17 years apart, the Left eye cataract dropped to the center of vision, and the R was not ready for removal. Wore Transition lenses for years. The surgeon left the cornea shaped like a football, and the wrong lens, eyes burned constantly. Constant blured vision. NOT 1 Othomologist I saw said a word about the badly done surgery. 2nd Surgery created a miniature reading vision of 6 font, as I saw different out of each eye. Had to get Lasic to correct my vision. Which created extreme Dry Eye Syndrome. Still have blurred vision, and wear transition lenses. Night blindness goes with cataracts, before and after. As does Dry Eyes.
Strange preferences. I would prefer perfect vision and just wear top quality safety glasses for protection during only those times needed. Strange prefernence to insure bad vision so you are forced to wear glasses all the time. Very weird.
I rather be able to see far without glasses.
I use 1.50 reading glasses myself.
I know this is exactly opposite of what is normal but I wear a pair of reading glasses to correct my nearsightedness!
I can actually see distance much clearer with my 4.0 foster grant reading glasses!
I use a Walmart brand of reading glasses, (5.0) for up close reading!
Maybe you folks can figure it out ... I can’t!?😟
My desire is to wear bifocal glasses all the time.
I am not confused. I desire other peoples experience - not other Doctors.
I haven’t had surgery yet!
