'Scientists' are a generally struggling and competitive group of people, often underpaid relative to their education, and compelled to seek a 'hot finding' or sensational conclusion that will lead to more funding, promotion, and credibility. To say they are 'typically not prone to hyperbole' is a joke. They fight with colleagues and competitors. Overstate and sometimes fabricate data. Try to suppress opposing findings and viewpoints. And are too often not the truth seekers those who want to prop them up for political or ideological reasons try to portray them as.

Helluva good point!
“typically not prone to hyperbole”
What a joke. The entire climate change hoax is based on hysterical hyperbole.
That’s a good summary of “scientists.” Yes, they are people trying to make a living. As in any endeavor, very few rise to the top. The others scratch out a living and fear porn sells.
The biggest problem is they fall dutifully in line to get whatever results their benefactors want and the biggest benefactor by FAR is the US Government. The Government is only interested in perpetuating itself and growing its power. It does this by ramping up the fear to unprecedented heights and then positions itself as the only entity that can cure the problems. The solution, therefore, is MORE government.
Any scientist, student, PhD candidate, etc taking government funding should be automatically suspect.
