A list of mass killings in the United States since January

The latest mass killing in the U.S. happened Wednesday night in Lewiston, Maine, when a man opened fire at a bowling alley and a bar, killing at least 16 people, two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press. Dozens of people were also wounded.

The alert for Lewiston was made shortly after 8 p.m. as the sheriff’s office reported that law enforcement agencies were investigating “two active shooter events.”

The man identified as a person of interest in a mass killing in Maine is a firearms instructor trained by the military and was recently committed to a mental health facility, according to a state police bulletin.

The shooting was the country’s 36th mass killing this year, according to a database maintained by The Associated Press and USA Today in partnership with Northeastern University. At least 188 people have died in those killings, which are defined as incidents in which four or more people have died within a 24-hour period, not including the killer — the same definition used by the FBI.

You don’t have to ask. All of these shooters are created by psychiatrists.

Over the past decade, USA TODAY, along with Northeastern University and The Associated Press, has been tracking all mass killings in the United States. When it comes to gun violence, our database is narrower than some tracking sites, such as the Gun Violence Archive, that include shootings that injure large numbers of people but kill no one. However, our database is broader in other ways. It includes every mass killing since 2006 from all weapons in which four or more people, excluding the offender, were killed within a 24-hour time frame. The database also includes dozens of variables on each incident, offender, victim, and weapon.

Please….4+ murders in one incident is a typical night in Chicago.

Increases in brain disorders seem to be the norm. Autism wasn’t even a word prior to the 1980s. Neither was ADHD. Then we have an explosion of kids with each. Medications churn out to “help,” but what are we really doing to the brain?

Doesn’t help that the west has strayed so far from God. We now bow to the state and industries. Francis Schaeffer detailed this exquisitely. The end is not good.

You linked to an interesting website.

I perceive that society has become more violent since Biden took office, but a perception is not necessarily reality.

The data at that website confirms my perception.

Deaths from gun violence increased in 2020 (the first year of the pandemic) but increased even more in 2021 and 2022, the Biden years.

Let’s see—Biden refuses to enforce border security, allowing any number of criminal elements/cartels to enter the US. Biden represents the “Defund the Police” movement. Biden represents those who would avoid prosecuting criminals at all if they could get away with it. And Biden policies have damaged the economy, leading to more desperate people who might see crime as their only alternative.

How many mass killings have occurred in Israel this year?

And how many of those Israeli Jews might have been saved had they been properly armed?

And how many European Jews might have been saved in WWII if they had been well-armed?

If the government would focus on crime in general, the “gun crimes” would take care of themselves.

I think the number would be much less if more criteria were used. Domestic mass killings and stuff between criminal gangs are not in the same category as what is happening in Lewiston.

Deaths from gun violence

Remember "gun violence" is an Orwellian propaganda term.

Most "gun violence deaths" are suicides, which gun control does not affect.

"Gun violence" Lumps all fatalities which involve firearms into a catchall Orwellian phrase of "gun violence". It creates the impression the solution is to reduce the number of guns, not the number of homicides, suicides or accidents.

If he was in a mental facility- committed by police, military or himself, he was bound to have been prescribed something.

And, he may have been a self medicator too, gaping who knows what, etc.

To avoid arrests for drugs or assault some folks make a beeline to check themselves into an institution.

It seems like they have to ignore the medicine angle at all costs.

There’s no medicine for autism unfortunately. Balovaptan, one drug candidate, was a bust.

At any rate if a judge sends you to the funny farm you’re not allowed to possess firearms by law.

If laws had been enforced this would not have happened.

80-85% of this list is a Domestic issue or criminal activity, not random mass shooters as the AP would like people to believe

Change the paperwork? Checking yes or no to drug use and mental illness isn’t working. They lie.

I know it’s tricky but something needs to change via HIPPA?
Have a database, some way to check. And like a DL, have to renew the permit?
