Thuggee were about 2/3s Hindu, 1/3 Muslim, but the whole cult had Hindu origins, and believed they were children of Kali.
Not thuggees, hashishin. They were an Islamic cult in Lebanon, if I recall correctly, and were said to get themselves hashed up before attacks directed by their leader, Hasan ibu Sabbah (I *know* I didn’t spell that right). I remember that this was thought to be the origin of the word “assassin”.
