Ted Koppel had a "Town Hall" to "discuss" AIDS, probably in 1982 or '83. He actually allowed people to call in. Callers were allowed to make a brief statement, and then Ted (or perhaps members of a Panel Of Experts) would comment.

One of the callers simply said something like "will we quarantine them from us, or wait until we have to quarantine us from them."

Ted let that one go without comment.
