I dont recall Playboy employing porn stars. I seem to recall they were always the more ‘wholesome’ magazine in both picking and presenting their bunnies. At least as compared to most of the other smut magazines. But all this was way before the current woke magazines that cant even keep trannies off the cover.
I climbed into my uncle’s closet at age eleven and found the Playboy with Brigitte Bardot’s backside featured. I think I aged three years on the spot.
Their Forte was taking normal looking 5’2” women and making them look like tall super models in photographs.

They didn’t. Some women employed by Playboy have crossed over into the porn industry after they worked with Playboy. The first was Teri Weigel. After she crossed over into porn after being a playmate in April 1986, the publisher terminated its relationship with her, as Playmates who do porn are not allowed to represent the company.

When one of their playmates, Teri Weigel, turned to doing porn (she needed the money to pay for medical bills after being in a car accident), Hugh Hefner cut off all ties to her. It seemed a pretty hypocritical move as Playboy always was a supporter of the porn industry, even printing reviews of porn movies for a time.
She retaliated by exposing a scam Hefner was running. When it came time to choose which centerfold was going to be Playmate of the year, in their magazine they would have photos of all the years playmates. Alongside each individual picture was its own phone number.
Readers were encouraged to vote for their choice of playmate of the year by calling the phone number. The call cost a few dollars, most of which went into Hefner’s pocket. Teri revealed it didn’t matter which playmates got the most calls/votes. In the end, Hefner was the one who chose the playmates of the year. Not the callers.
