Can you suggest an email program to use?

Posted on 10/05/2023 9:51:30 AM PDT by bluescape

I've used several email programs in the past. Mozilla's, Outlook, yahoo. Right now I use gmail because my late wife and I used it for so much that I had to consolidate stuff to work on an assortment of issues.

If they still work as easily I should be able to put in the SMTP settings and have the emails all imported into whichever email program. Does that still apply?

I'd like from FR folks a few suggestions that are user friendly and as insulated from leftist manipulations as one can get. Thanks.

Whichever one Hunter Biden uses. Apparently it’s the most secure. In fact so secure it even evades the abilities of three letter agencies. It also comes with protections of the WH.

I agree with Proton mail, exactly for what was stated - it’s secure.

Protonmail is an email service accessed via the web, he is looking for an email program that can access one or more email services.

I have hushmail but proton seems to have a lot to offer.

Meaning to get away from Gmail for a while.

Evolution is free, full-featured, and has mature Windows and Linux versions. It is also VERY configurable, due to its Linux roots.

Thunderbird is free, open source. It is an email program, not an email service. The OP asked for a program, not a service.

Depends on where you want to store your email - with an email provider or to download to local storage. Thunderbird is old school simple client, advantage of moving email from host to your local storage ( you own the storage and backup issues ). Protonmail for web/internet based - secure and you’re not ‘the product’ as with free web-based email like gmail.

I’ve used mail.com for over 20 years, it’s free and easy to use.

Thunderbird. I have used it on my desktop for as long as it’s existed. I pull mail from multiple domains of my own, gmail for junk, yahoo mail for junk and anywhere else I decide to open an email acct., and it’s FRee but you can make donations. I’ve never had it skip a beat.
