Definitely he was revealing his inner thoughts, and their marriage fell apart as a result. But marriages fall apart all the time. Usually they don’t result in murder. He’s not an isolated incident. There was also that old-time old-money lawyer in SC who killed his wife and son. Going back to the ‘70s, there was Jeffrey McDonald, a top-flight doctor and Green Beret at Fort Bragg who killed his whole family and tried to blame it on drug-crazed hippies.
