LGBTQ dating app Grindr ended its remote work policies and forced employees to relocate. Nearly half of its staff left.
In early August, Grindr announced a return-to-office mandate. The policy gave workers two weeks to choose between relocating to their respective team’s newly assigned “hub” city to work in-person twice a week or leave the company with severance, according to the Communications Workers of America (CWA).
Approximately 80 of Grindr’s 178 workers were forced to leave as of August 31, the CWA said Wednesday. Many of these workers were hired remotely and were required to relocate to new “hub” cities — New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington D.C.

The five hubs are dirtbag cities.
That’s a feature, not a bug.
Back seat of a rental car?
Office? At first I thought it said “orifice”.
This seems somewhat different than the return to office discussions that have been had recently.
If these people were hired to work remotely, then they never were in the office, when offices went to remote work.
It seems different than the situations, where people were working in an office ,were sent home, and now are being asked to come back to the same office. In this case most of these people probably do not live in or near the Hub cities they are supposed to go to work in.,
As is true of any job ,if the pay and benefits are worth relocating for, then some people will relocate to those Hub cities.
There could not be a company more deserving of crashing-and-burning...
It will all balance out in the end. Tech corporations will learn that they can get along with a more skeletal staff and a surplus of unemployed techs will create a surplus and drop wages.
This isn’t a dating app, it’s a disgusting, filthy homo hookup app.
They made the correct decision. Traffic in the ny metro is hindering my ability to get around like I used to. It’s heavy and, based upon a comparison of the last forty years, unpredictable. The amount of vehicles on the road AT ALL TIMES is massive. Leave Queens on 495 at 2.30 and you’re crawling stop and go all the way out like you used to leaving at 5:30.
If Grindr want their employees to loyally be in the office they should move the offices to locations with office windows overlooking school playgrounds.
They had what, 3 years of seniority?
I feel so sorry for their office cleaning crew.
they are just going to advertise a fresh young set of ‘employees’
“Dating app Grindr loses nearly half its staff after trying to force a return to office”
Geeze how pitiful. This app and it’s people have contributed so much to the economic and mental health of this country ... Bwhahahahahahaha
do you have to be a fag to work there???
“Tech corporations will learn that they can get along with a more skeletal staff”
The problem is they need to meet their DEI goals so they will have to have quite a few extra no=productive employees.
I bet that looks really good on a resume.
That would be discrimitory. /s
