This hurricane hitting New England is probably a low probability but it has happened in the past. The hurricane of 1938 crossed Long Island and then went across Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut then across Central Massachusetts into NH. Killed 700 people, destroyed 19000 homes and took down over 20,000 miles of powerlines. So many trees were blown down that they had to create a special authority in addition to the CCC and WPA to handle the debris removal. Imagine the damage of a similar storm today.

Often hurricanes weaken as they get
into cooler waters; they get downgraded
to tropical storms or depressions.
A hurricane can deliver high winds to
the east of the eye, heavy rains to
the west. While many storms fizzle
out despite dire forecasts, there have
still been significant nor’ easters
and trop storms.
Irene, Sandy, etc and also recent
storms that flooded parts of
western New England. One such storm
about 10 yrs ago battered VT, western MA
NY and NJ. There was a video showing people making efforts to save lives—
and “some rescuers shown here would
lose their lives later, in the attempt”

Nope, not me. If they get hit, we'll never hear the end of it. Better to hope the darn storm just peters out in the middle of the Atlantic and leaves egg on the doom and gloomer’s faces.

Usually when a hurricane reaches Cat 5 in open water it burns itself out relatively quickly due to churning up so much cooler water from below.

This one, so far, is not predicted to have that fate, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

It would be a damn shame if it hit Martha’s Vineyard.

The hoards of NYC “migrants” and illegal aliens hardest hit? The 100000 loving it and living it up in NYC hotels. Just might be hit so hard that they skedaddle back to the shitholes they came from.

I played golf with Jim Cantore when the Weather Channel was a new thing. He told me he worked for the WC and I had to think a minute to see if he looked remotely familiar. He didn’t. My how times have changed. He’s better known than Fauci.

He’s better known than Fauci.

He's the butt of lots of storm weather jokes in our county because of his actions (fear mongering) during some hurricanes that threatened or hit the panhandle in the past. He was even banned from our emergency management center for awhile for basically countermanding the directions coming from our local emergency management team.

Uh, Philly is like 100 miles inland. When we’ve gotten hit by hurricanes, the damage is almost always from heavy rains and flood-waters. If Kensington got wiped out, it would mean the whole region along the Delaware got wiped out.
