“You can get booze at Walmart???”
You’ve never been to a Walmart??? Yes, they sell beer and wine.
I have fun with them sometimes... “What? You’re not gonna card me? Make my day!”
It was mandatory carding for everyone at the liquor store my daughter used to manage
Same with the smoke shop
I’m 67, but look 80
They never ask me for ID but they do check if I have a pulse.
I agree, the poor cashier is just doing their job. It comes up on their computer screen....”now ask for ID”. So, just show the ID. It’s not about the cashier.
I just don’t understand that offering different opinions constituted as being “disruptive.” This is precisely what happened to Charles Johnson’s site. Everybody had to be butt-kissers or they lost their posting privileges.
How is it discriminatory?
What’s humiliating about it? Have a sense of humor. I always tell them “I only buy beer to get carded”. Too bad I can’t convince myself they do it due to me having a youthful appearence.
My lord if this is your biggest problem in life, count your blessings.
>> I came here for an argument.
No you didn’t.
That was state law when I worked in Atlanta 25 years ago. EVERYBODY got carded. Nobody was discriminated agains.
I was 47 years old at the time and I always got a laugh when the 90 year old great-grannies would go “Tee-hee, young man.” to the cashier.
It’s what the law requires. The clerk and I always get a laugh at it
Yes I did!
A more important question is what are they doing with this data? They scan the back of your ID in the majority of stores I go into...
It makes this 76 year old man believe he is 16 and trying to pull something over on them! My local grocery store does the same.
They don’t sell beer or winw in my state. Neither do grocery stores.
In Maryland, you gotta go to a liquor store.
>> They never ask me for ID but they do check if I have a pulse
LOL!
Bull.
No hope for a lawsuit. The majority of states require retailers to do this to everyone to eliminate judgment calls. You actually have a better chance suing a retailer that doesn’t card.
It’s probably not their policy. A lot of states and cities have added “must ID all the time” laws. Booze and smokes. And they frequently have to scan them to tie it to the record.
