I’ve always that that concept of “beer goggles” was intentionally ironic.
It’s not that I really thought she was beautiful, but after a whole night of drinking, I was just willing to go home with a woman who looked like she did — and she was willing to go home with a guy that looked like me. It’s about lowering the standards, because you’re drunk.
I can’t believe anyone got a grant to study the aesthetics of the matter.
Not to mention that getting drunk and looking at pictures is a lame study. Very different than real life in the bar.
