the frozen, square variety once served up in schools

Not at my school. The lunch ladies back then ('60s) made everything, including the pizza, from scratch.

Yeah, we never had pizza for lunch. Went to HS through early/mid 70s.

Fish sticks, yes. And I would put them on a couple slices of bread and add tartar sauce.
