(Reuters) -Hawaiian Electric's shares jumped more than 40% on Monday after the utility said its power lines in West Maui had been shut down for more than six hours before wildfires started in the area during the afternoon.

Hawaiian Electric said on Monday that a morning fire on Aug. 8 caused by power lines that fell in high winds was subsequently reported "100% contained" and later declared "extinguished" by the Maui County Fire Department.
The utility said another afternoon fire started in the same area more than six hours after all of its power lines in West Maui had been de-energized, which could not be contained by the fire department and spread out of control toward Lahaina.

“Well, you see, they informed us that the fires were going to be set at about 3 PM. So, naturally, being good people, you know, we shut down the power lines a few hours before those fires were started. That’s our story.”

Not adding up at all.
Starting to sound as if orchestrated and choreographed by a wide network of individuals. How sad, others may have been willing to kill people just to clear the land for acquisition.
Literally a ‘Scorched Earth’ Policy for ground-grabbing.
Makes absolutely no sense. The logical conclusion is arson if no power lines were producing electricity.
I can imagine someone like Bill Gates putting such a plan into motion.

They said after the first fire was put out they turned off the power to the rest of the lines to prevent it from happening again.
Which would be a logical response.

Spokesmen are paid to say things that are at least a little bit sensible, but might possibly be believable.
I think these guys are failing.
They may not have said anything quite as explicit as what I said, but the things that they actually said? Not sensible. Not believable.
Only the gullible believe the Narrative on this one.

I thought I read they blocked people from going down the streets because of downed power lines.
The earlier fire was in a different spot IIRC, so the cause isn’t re-ignition.
Somebody barbecuing? I would expect burning of any type of trash to be prohibited.
I hate to admit it, but this latest information about the power lines points to arson as a cause.
And anyone with ONLY an EV was screwed! This is another reason the DemocRATS are trying to mandate everyone purchase EVs. Then they will limit the amount, the days one is ‘allowed’ to charge it. Or just cut off the power and recommend bicycles. If you’re too old or disabled to use a bicycle.....oh well...too bad.
