“Doris Day saved me from ever being a β€œfan” when I was in the 2nd grade. She was filming some movie in Carmel Cali(mid 1950’s) and rebuffed my request for an autograph.”

Funny, but my mom grew up in Cincinnati and she remembered seeing a little blonde girl with freckles walk past the house daily with her nose stuck up. Off to music lessons, or something. She swore that she later recognized the grown up Doris Day as that same girl and never had a very high opinion of her. She did make an effective cinematic beard for Rock Hudson in all those 50’s films.
