Freaky, isn't it? Saw an owl scoop up a rat one night, just as I drove past on a dark residential street. There were lots of mature oak trees that blocked the streetlights, so only the side-scatter from my headlights illuminated the dark patch where the rat was scurrying. Quick as a wink - gone.
I was walking near dusk in Mississippi when a large owl flew on to a chimney not 20 feet away. There was not a sound when it flew by.
