I was sitting on my back porch a while back. A hawk swooped down and grabbed a cat that was in my yard. He flew off with the cat screaming.
I saw a little kitten sitting next to the highway and stopped and picked it up. It had talon marks on both sides of its back. It had gotten away somehow.
I’m pretty certain the damn hawks took my 18 year old Houdini right outside the garage not two months ago.
The previous farms around me are now half McMansions and half gone to wil forest harboring all kinds of “critters and varmints” the farmers of my youth kept under control.
My barn kitties probably disappear from this Death From Above thing; too.
Five years ago, we got a new puppy. While he was frolicking in the back yard, I noticed TWO red tailed hawks sitting next to each other on a branch of neighbor’s tree, very intently watching our yard. I pulled our new little puppy into the house as fast as I could move.
