My first “real job at 14 all through high school was pumping gas. It was a fun job and being as I grew up in a resort got to meet all kinds of famous people. We never expected tips but in winter when the snow was dumping we got huge tips, especially when we would do snow chains. Not bad for a dumb kid pumping gas.
Now that I think about it I made more money doing that then I do with Bidenomics...
You even did snow chains for people? You really were a full service gas station. It sounds like you had a good time, plus you did good deeds for people. It doesn’t snow where I live, but picturing that makes what you did seem even more worthy of praise in my eyes.

I remember when the only way you got gasoline was to pull in and tell the guy what you wanted and they put in the gas, checked the oil and water and washed the windows. That was when they made a cent and a half to 2 cents per gallon on gasoline, then along came Carter.
It was just a welfare program. Giving people an easy, unnecessary job. I guess they were at least working, but come on.
Let them pick up trash on the side of the highway. At least they won’t keel over like in Texas.

Hey, I live in Texas. It’s not that hot here. Moved here from the Portland area about four years ago. And I would walk through the gates of hell before living there again.

I have been here for about six decades. This summer is pretty much what we get 30-40% of the time when we don’t get rain in late June and July. If we do, then it is just a muggy heat. My favorite day of the year is September 1. That means you have survived the blast furnace and football, hockey, and hunting await you.
I hate it. I haven’t pumped my own gas in 37 years and now that I’m in my late 60’s I’m really not looking forward to struggling out of my car in the cold and rain trying to figure it out!
The lines got sooooo long here in Southern Oregon as people struggled and had trouble.
No, the law says they can’t have two separate prices.
