Biography ^ | 7/14/20 | Sara Kettler

Wearing her own red one-piece, the 'Charlie's Angels' star posed for the now-famous image in her Los Angeles backyard.

For Farrah Fawcett, 1976 was a big year. Besides achieving breakout success on the small screen as one of Charlie's Angels, that was the year her iconic swimsuit poster was released. This pinup poster, which showcased Fawcett's wholesome beauty and sex appeal, would be prominently placed on millions of bedroom and dorm room walls across the United States and around the world. Explored in the special Biography: Farrah Fawcett Forever, it also became a defining feature of the 1970s and is considered to be the best-selling poster of all time (a record that's unlikely to be broken now that the internet's around). Here's a look at how this famous swimsuit photo came to be, and how involved Fawcett was in its creation.

It's the dog days of summer 2023, why not go back to the days of the 70's, of inflation, gas lines, Jimmy Carter ineptness, and the posters of beautiful women.

Farrah had the biggest seller, with Cheryl Tiegs being a rival, also Addrienne Barbeau was in the running.

Mods pull at your discretion.

At least men were men, and women were women.
I’d take the 70’s over this shitshow every single time.

I did observer that dudes with a FF poster were 100% more likely to get laid than those with Heisenberg posters ...

I had the Raquel Welch cavewoman poster in my dorm room - by 1976 I was a medical intern and basically missed the next six-seven years in pop culture.

Farrah Fawcett did nothing for me.

Jaclyn Smith - yes

Brunettes- definately.

The poster on my wall was Dennis Hopper on his Chopper flipping the bird, from Easy Rider.

The same poster was on the wall in my senior high school physics classroom - with her measurements in metric.

Try that now!

Her popularity at that point has maybe never been duplicated. She was simply a shooting star. And yet, she was arguably the 3rd most beautiful woman on the cast of Charlies Angels - behind Jacqueline Smith and Cheryl Ladd (who replaced her, but did appear in a few episodes w/ Farrah).

I don’t really have a type except white.

I liked Hopper in True Romance.

Apocalypse Now was also a quality flick.

FF was O.K., I think others had considerably more sex appeal though.

We had Natasha Kinski (I think) with a snake on our wall. Farrah was a year or so before my college days.

Werner's little-known brother? As portrayed by Chevy Chase in the slap-stick science comedy?
