Pretty much, but the asymptote accelerated drastically in the last several years. In decades past, I would take time off during the two-week Olympic period to watch. Now? Prefer to watch paint dry.
I’d put it at about as popular as “Dance sport” from the 2000 Sydney goat f**k.
I only watch the 100m, 200m, and 400m in the Summer Games.
I don’t watch the Winter Games at all.
“It’s gymnastics on water and concussions are a risk.”
I’m thinking maybe concussions are a mandatory qualification.
The games have drifted so far from “Higher, faster, stronger,” that subjective events will soon overtake the stuff worth watching. Coming soon: Olympic beauty pageants; Tattoo competition; AGT events.
One of the turnoffs in years past was being treated 24/7 to the insufferables like bob costas.
