IRS targeted a conservative economist with the 'largest tax investigation in the world' but came up empty. Then leaked its investigation to the media, which offered his policy views on taxes as evidence of guilt. Then authorities cited 'negative press' to close his bank.

Sue them.? In a fair and just society they would be arrested for bank robbery.! But, I suppose, ALL of DC is like that now..

And more glaringly, the US is no longer “the good guys” on planet earth. Quite the opposite, in fact.... since we are being ruled over by the bad (or the worst) guys on the planet.

Liquidity (cash on hand) can be unrelated to whether or not a bank is solvent. The story as printed here appears to have been written from a position of ignorance. (Illiquidity can be a reason for a bank closing, but probably isn’t the most common.)
Interestingly, Euro Pacific Bank doesn’t appear to be a US chartered bank - it appears to be chartered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, not Puerto Rico. It appears deposits are NOT FDIC insured.
And I did find this interesting quote: “He acknowledged that two years ago the bank was about $4 million short, because it had, he said, inadvertently been using clients’ deposits toward operating expenses.”
And there is this “His lawyer, Lanny Davis”.
That being said, Puerto Rico is a Democrat run third world cesspool which should be given its independence.
Not on Bankfind, so deposits aren't FDIC insured. And from another site, it appears that the bank had a charter on one of the foreign Caribbean islands.
The whole 'depositors aren't getting their money' raised my suspicions that there was a lot NOT being said on this thread.
It really angers me. I served our country because I believed in us.
