This is at least the fourth time I've observed a bike lane sign that had been run over by a car.....which means the vehicle crossed the bike lane AND the sidewalk.....be careful out there people.

Rolled my bike out of the shed this morning as wife was leaving for work... she said no way. (I’m recovering from surgery on Monday). Said I could do a walk around the block... so I’m back in the recliner with a pizza in the oven....

Please add me to this ping list. I love riding my MTB converted to a hybrid city/offroad/gravel bike. I try to ride about an hour a day if I can. Walking is hard for me but riding is something I can do and enjoy. (Bad Ankles from multiple back surgeries nicking nerves and broke one last summer)

Dang.

I never leave my neighborhood. Usually do 4 laps around. Downhill to the shore and uphill to the house. Maybe 4 miles. I’m grounded, not even allowed to go fishing.

Got a Touring Electra men’s bike. Love it. But I’m 82 and losing my balance and need a 3-wheel bike. I’m looking at the Tricycle conversion kit at Amazon, but I’m worried part of my problem is getting my leg up and over the seat, it has a middle bar, and most trikes don’t have that (like a girl’s bike). Also, I could try to sell my bike and get a 3 wheeler. Any thoughts on this?

If I hit 82, I’m getting a golf cart. Got a quad for hunting, but loading/unloading into a truck is getting serious and I’m only 52. Got a 20’ flatbed, but you cannot drag them through alot of places.

BTW, I have seen electric conversions for regular bikes. Fits on front wheel.

Thank you for the reply. I’m using it for “senior exercise” so I need it with “pedals” and without the electricity! :-) I’m not so sure the tricycle conversion is the best way to go.

My dad keeps a trike at my sisters place in WY. It is a ‘girls’ bike/step through. My quad is a step over, A saddle type. son has a step through. A bombardier, I believe.. I’m a Kawasaki guy. But yeah, loading and backing out is becoming a chore unless I use the trailer. It’s hard to go off road with a trailer though.

Tour de France kicked off this morning. Now I have something worth watching on TV each evening for the next 3 weeks!

I put in 53 miles this morning on my circa 2012 Pinarello FP3 with a brand new Campagnolo Record 12 groupset. A bit toasty and humid here in the Carolinas today, with some early haze due to the Canadian fires. Glad to get it done before noon!

“2012 Pinarello FP3 with a brand new Campagnolo Record.” Sweet ride. Campagnolo is tops.
Here’s a nice interview Peter Saga did with Ruby:

"...I put in 53 miles this morning on my circa 2012 Pinarello FP3 with a brand new Campagnolo Record 12 groupset...."

Pinarello just got bought by South African mininig billionaire Ivan Glasenberg. Fausto Pinarello keeps a stake and I suspect will keep a hand in running the company.

I'm on 12-sp Chorus derailleurs (can't justify the Record mark-up any more) but with Dura-Ace rim brakes ('cuz they're better & cheaper'n Campy's).

I rode 8-sp until Campy stopped making repair parts for the brifters, then went to 10-sp, ... until they stopped making 10-sp repair parts (and Branford Bike ran out of NOS). And they're not making repair parts for 12-sp at all so when the right-hand brifter wears out, the only option is throw it away and buy another. I won't cry as hard over throwing out a repairable Chorus brifter as hard as I would a Record one.

One of these days I might get fed up and go back to friction shifters. A friction shifter don't know how many cogs is in the back.

If you didn't hear, there was a rider killed in this year's Tour de Suisse. Swiss racer Gino Mäder and another rider ran wide of a turn in a high-speed descent (60+ mph) and the embankment was steep enough that Mäder died from his injuries and the other rider was injured badly enough to require hospitalization. Apparently there wasn't so much as a cell phone camera covering the accident so no one knows exactly what happened but it was a steep enough shoulder that they might have gone airborne.

First cyclist killed in a race since Fabio Casartelli in the '95 TdF, who crashed into a 10-ton stone bollard the French were using to impersonate a guard rail.

Thanks for the picture and reminder for everyone to stay safe. Personally I always wear a helmet because even a small slip could turn out bad if you slam your head.

Welcome to The Bicycle PING List Boomer! 🚴‍♂️✌️

I saw a woman hobble out of a mall. They way she moved was a bit painful to see. Then she unlocked a bike and rode off like nobody's business.
