Welcome aboard an EA-18G Growler recovery and sketchy taxi aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in the Arabian Gulf.
On the flight deck, directors and pilots work closely together to carefully taxi 70+ million dollar aircraft inches from the edge of the flight deck. The nose gear of the Super Hornet is slightly behind the pilot, so, when taxiing near the edge of the flight deck, the pilot's feet can actually lie over the water when the the aircraft is in a turn.
Thanks for watching. Fly Navy!

Super cool!
Oh, no, I just enjoyed the video.
I was with the DoD for 30 years attached to the US Navy involved with their aviation maintenance at the depot level.
In that time I heard many hair raising stories from air crew and maintainers.
Theres a reason working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier is considered one of the most, if not THE most dangerous jobs in the world. π
And thanks for posting this BTW. π

Great video.
Heh, this is old-hat for us Navy guys!
I worked on A7 Corsairs, and the pilot was just a little forward of the nose wheel, as was the Tomcat, but...I think the F-8 Crusader was the one that the pilot seemed to be about 10 feet over the side when he taxied in that manner!
That said, I would be walking near the plane, waiting for it to be spotted, and would see with my own eyes just how close to the edge they got, and it was indeed inches.
There has to be a lot of trust between the pilot and that yellow shirt.
A lot.
That was a nice video...the whole part with him swinging around to the final approach, calling the ball...it was really cool to watch with good, high quality footage
Thanks for posting it
