I never smoked, but I had friend who was upset that cigarettes went from 60 cents a pack to 75 cents a pack. He vowed to quit if cigarettes ever got to $1 a pack.
He didn’t.
I remember when cigs were 35 cents a pack
When I was a teen, we used to drive over to the Cherokee Reservation and pay $1.10 for a carton of cigarettes...We’d buy all we could afford and come back to East Tennessee and sell them at a bowling alley for $2.50 a carton...We were cigarette bootleggers...LOL
I started when they were 60 cents a pack. They seemed to go up a nickel a week.
