Ja Morant has been suspended for 25 games to start the 2023-2024 NBA season, though there’s belief around the league the Grizzlies star dodged a much larger bullet after livestreaming himself with a gun for the second time.

“I think the Grizzlies, those around the NBA, were bracing for the possibility it could have been even more,” ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski said Friday on “First Take.”

“…But 25 games is significant certainly to start the season. At least for Memphis now they know they can start their off-season planning with the understanding of how long they will be without Ja Morant.” When the news broke, fans took to Twitter and had plenty to say about Morant’s suspension, with some believing that the 25 games seemed like a “slap on the wrist.”

It’s okay to play with guns if you’re a libtard. Ask smartAlec

Did he threaten anyone with the gun? Or is the NBA just opposed to the 2nd amendment? Nothing would surprise me about the NBA.

I didn’t know what a Ja Morant was until this mornig on sports radio they thought he could be worth $1 billion dollars.

With a name like that, all I can hear him saying in response to his suspension is, “Well ex-squeeze me!”

He loves to hit the strip clubs. And he loves to wave his pistols around while in the strip clubs. It’s only a matter of time before he shoots someone or someone shoots him. Allegedly he also threatened a visitor to his home with a firearm.

Imagine if he livestreamed himself doing something illegal... like, say, going up into the stands and punching a fan (as though that would ever happen in the NBA).

I think the league is simply concerned about image. Morant and his posse both are out of control.

Is that name pronounced like the letter J, or like the German word for yes? And that name gender-neutral?

Well, he wasn’t convicted of a crime.

I think in one of the earlier videos he brandished it as some women.

Part of his punishment should have been firearms classes. The way he waves these guns around makes me believe he knows nothing about firearms.

Crimes WERE committed.

Local police and the NBA took a blind eye to those crimes.

His previous suspension was more about those uncharged crimes than flashing a gun in a strip joint.

It was never publicly explained whose gun he had at the strip club or if he EVER took a gun on a team plane which would have been a violation.

He didn’t contest that suspension nor will he contest this suspension because if all the TRUTH came out about previous incidents he might have criminal liability which he doesn’t want nor does the league.

The whole thing stinks.

Giving celebrities a pass never works.

OJ got a pass on domestic violence.

Then he got a jury nullification on murder.

But he couldn’t help himself, he ended up doing more time for the crimes he got convicted of than anyone else would have for the same.

But he deserved the death penalty for what was done to his ex and her boyfriend.

Celebrities think they can get away with murder.

And a lot have.

I am not saying he didn't commit crimes. I'm just saying the NBA has set it up so they can discipline a player for things that may not be crimes.

But it's noteworthy to mention he was roundly criticized by players and former players.

He sounds a lot like Phil Spector and we all know where he ended up.

I’m just saying the NBA has set it up so they can discipline a player for things that may not be crimes.

As they did with the fruitcake Kyrie Irving.

That suspension appeared to be a more clear violation of free speech.

Although whether free speech extends to social media is unclear.

The irony with Kyrie was how little support he had among his peers.

I think Jaylen Brown eventually came to his defense.

But as I remember Kyrie’s offense was a retweet that contained a link to some media available on Amazon, not even something in his own words.
