Five suspects have been charged in connection with an assault on 7-Eleven employees in Texas after the workers refused to sell a cigar to a minor, authorities said.
Investigators arrested two adults and three juveniles who were allegedly seen on video during the June 3 incident at the 7-Eleven store on Faithon P. Lucas Boulevard, the Mesquite Police Department said Friday.
The two adults were identified as 19-year-old Ahliyah Turner, of Garland, and Kiara Beale, a 21-year-old woman from Dallas. Turner was charged with warrants from another agency while Beale was charged with assault causing bodily injury.
The three juveniles were charges with two counts of assault, criminal mischief and theft.
The attack was recorded on video after the clerk refused to sell tobacco products to an underage girl, who later returned with several other juveniles, police said.
Video shows some of the suspects jumping over the counter, assaulting the clerk and throwing items at the employee.
When another worker tried to intervene, police said they were assaulted by the group.

No shock any more. Employees of stores should be rained and armed with a sign laced on the door that staff my be armed.
They should be crated up, put on a slow, one-way boat back to the African motherland. Toss in a spear and a loin cloth for their “reparations”.

In this day and age, I simply don’t understand why clerks are not better protected. It wouldn’t be that hard to do. Put a sheet of plexiglass two feet above the counter, going up maybe five feet. Call it a Covid guard, or whatever. That would stop anyone from jumping over the counter.
Install a lockable door to stop anyone from getting behind the counter.
As a side note, there’s a convenience store I sometimes visit. It’s on the edge of a really bad part of town. The clerk is behind this small little counter. If someone wanted to attack her, they’d need take only two steps. I’m actually surprised it hasn’t happened yet.

The solution is simple. We need a national Stand Your Ground law. One that makes it ok to over due it in ones defense.

Africa doesn’t want them, but Australia seemed to work well for a criminal problem, so perhaps deportation somewhere, after a second arrest instead of filling up jails with 3 time losers. Like chopping off a hand for theft, it might be a big deterrant.
