My youngest son had a school mate that had strong Tourettes. He joined out Cub Scout pack thirty years ago and I had an educational meeting with the boys and their dads prior to his joining. I explained how difficult it was to live with, how involuntary and how important it was for us all to have supportive friends.
The next three years he had a team of supporters. His life at school totally changed. When he was about fifteen his dad got transferred. He came to see me and told me how profound the difference was due to his involvement with the rest of the boys and what it had meant to him and his family. I was humbled and every time I hear of Tourettes I want to share this opportunity.
