Harley-Davidson Inc. is set to celebrate its 120th anniversary with performances from Foo Fighters, daring demonstrations and other events hosted throughout Milwaukee and surrounding communities July 13-16.

Events will center in Veterans Park and cascade throughout the area at the Harley-Davidson Museum, the company's Menomonee Falls-based factory and myriad places throughout the community.

Veterans Park will open for anniversary celebrations on Friday and Saturday. Food and beverage services from local vendors are available on both days from 2 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Other daily staples include Harley-Davidson’s lifestyle apparel pop-up shops and motorcycle demonstrations. Kyle and Cody Ives’ will shoot for thrills during their Wall of Death and Ball of Steel demonstrations taking place throughout the afternoon and evening on both days.

Other events include the “non-stop, action packed freestyle” of the Nitro Circus as well as live music beginning at 3 p.m. and ending at 10:45 p.m. Among other performers, Phantogram and Green Day will sound off on Friday night and Ghost Hounds, Cody Jink and Foo Fighters will play Saturday.

In one significant programming change, The Cult will now open for Green Day on Friday after Social Distortion had to cancel its touring schedule. The band revealed Wednesday that lead singer Mike Ness was diagnosed with stage one tonsil cancer.

For people hoping to purchase on-site tickets to Veterans Park festivities, the box office will remain open from 1-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Two-day, general admission tickets are $205 with a $27.05 fee, and one-day, general admission tickets start at $110 with fees. VIP options are also available.

At the Harley-Davidson Museum, guests can expect food trucks from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., a complete display of Harley-Davidson’s 2023 line-up in the museum’s showroom, electric balance bike demos for younger visitors and nightly Division BMX Stunt Shows. The museum will also host live music with groups starting between 5 and 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with additional performances on Sunday. Thursday's performers include American Progress at 5 p.m., The War Hippies at 7 p.m. and Hairball at 9 p.m.

RECOMMENDED Powertrain Operations, the company’s Menomonee Falls factory, will host tours all weekend long. On Friday and Saturday nights, visitors can sample from Johnsonville’s Big Taste Grill, a 65-foot sizzler capable of cooking 500 sausages at one time. Other events include motorcycle police skills demonstrations and 2023 Harley-Davidson demos or test rides Thursday through Sunday.

Community events featuring live music and other attractions will take place throughout the weekend. Bonfire on the Beach kicks off on Thursday night at Grant Park Beach. At the Down Under Disco on Friday, under the Holton Avenue Bridge, visitors will hear from artists such as DJ Romke and Roll Train. Harley-Davidson’s block party is hosted at Greenfield Avenue in West Allis on Saturday, and the weekend concludes with the yearly downtown parade from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

For a complete rundown of the weekend's festivities, including event times and tickets, see Harley-Davidson's Event Schedule.

The Veterans Park festivities got quite expensive this time around. Thankfully, this is only one of a plethora of activities available to visiting Hooligans.

I highly recommend the Rustic Roads Motorcycle Tour Award Program promoted by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Ride & document 10 and receive a commemorative patch, 25 and receive a certificate.

I gave the Multistrada V4 Rally serious consideration before ultimately purchasing the Pan America Special. Cost, dismal dealership network and the quirky designs steered me away.

Still, I wonder what the Italian fuss is all about.

BTW, I don’t get what drives the whole Brembo brake love affair. Color me Not Impressed . . .

Brembo used to be a step up from stock brakes in general. Not so much any more. I’ll put the Tokicos on my Kwacker against anyone’s.

My wife made me stay for the entire set!

My fondest memories were of Kid Rock dancing on top of the Yamaha piano with his mud covered work boots, with Elton John stretching away as far as he could and still play. Kid Rock trashed that piano.

The banner on the viaduct over I-94 westbound saying "Sorry about Elton" was pretty special . . .

“The louder the pipes, the smaller the wiener”

They remind me of the rice boys with wimpy little economy cars and loud fart pipes. They think noise = performance. Like the goofy huge rear tires and they could not spin on a bet.

HD has been, other than a very few models, an embarrassment of low performance. I owned an early 1000cc Sportster and found out.

As far as I'm concerned.

Every HD motorcycle needs a 2x4 thrown through the spokes of the front wheel.

No need for that noise.

I owned a 66 XLCH many years ago. Back in those years, they didn’t have a battery. The generator ran the lights and spark was provided by a Fairbanks-Morse magneto. It was a great looking bike that was a lot of fun to ride if you could get it started.
