I was once introduced to a condiment popular in Singapore. To me it smelled (and looked) like vomit. And once made the mistake of choosing Filipino versus western style fish soup. Lifted the lid off the bowl and ... whew! No problem with durian fruit, and love kimchee (wife can’t stand it) but I understand where you’re coming from.
