No, Gilmore was at fault.

Gilmore was southbound in the southbound lane and swerved off the right side of the southbound lane to avoid Mercer who was traveling north in the southbound lane in a no-passing zone. Gilmore was not anywhere near at fault.

You and I, my friend, have been loyal Freepers for a long time. I just think that FR is not the place for local interest stories. But if it is, take note of my 23” brown trout. We grilled it tonight with orzo and asparagus.

Exactly right. In fact, Gilmore was alert, saw the danger coming at him, and dashed onto the shoulder to avoid a head-on with Mercer. Great driving by Gilmore.

What I don’t get is why didn’t Mercer use those seconds after running Gilmore off the road to head to the shoulder himself or get back into his lane. Instead, he stayed in the northbound passing lane and hit the Ford Edge head-on.
