"Ganeemead “Nixon notes that when Country 404 collapses and the war is over, there will be people from the hundreds of little villages and towns coming up to the new bosses in the Kremlin (the old bosses will hqve been hanged) with one basic question:

When are all the men coming home??”"

Nixon never made such a statment and I never claimed that he did. Where do you get this license to lie on the forum??

Nixon has merely painted a reasonable picture of what the remnants of ukraine are going to look like a year or so down the road. He is not responsible for the unusually high level of butt hurt that causes you and your ilk. YOU are...

Wait, I'm confused... Post #8 isn't yours?! That's a direct quote from Post 8, by "ganeemead" to "ALL."

Easy not to catch the difference. In post 8 I mentioned new bosses in Kiev; Lying SofS Cronos turned the phrase around to “new bosses in the Kremlin”, which transforms the statement into an outright lie.

Russia has paid a big price for the war, but so have we and the EU. We have borrowed close to $200 billion so far to prolong this proxy war with our stated goals of weakening the Russian military and removing Putin.

The sanctions have backfired hurting The West more than deterring Russia. We have sleepwalked ourselves into a new Cold War and driven Russia and China closer together. The BRIC countries have expanded threatening the role of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. The Saudis and Iran are working together against our interests in the region. Syria is back in the Arab League. Taiwan is in danger. NATO is developing cracks. Domestic opposition to the war in Ukraine is increasing in Europe with 7 million Ukrainian refugees scattered throughout the continent. And Zelensky wants $800 billion to rebuild Ukraine.

What is the exit strategy from this war? Does anyone trust the Biden national security team, which is in the process of destroying our military through its woke policies that have caused major recruitment and retention problems? The debt servicing costs on our national debt will soon exceed the budget for DOD. Yet, we continue to fund this endless war that doesn’t involve our strategic national interests. The reality is that Ukraine cannot defeat Russia nor can it retake Crimea, which Putin considers to be part of Russia.

We are stuck to this tar baby and Biden can’t figure how to get unstuck. We have changed the global political landscape and we have become more isolated due to the war. The war in Ukraine is an albatross around Biden’s neck. It will be a major issue in the 2024 race if we are still involved in the war. The recent approval of F-16s for Ukraine is just another escalation in a war we are losing. How can the continued destruction and senseless loss of life be defended as being in the best interests of Ukraine?

This war has been going on since 2014 when the Obama/Biden regime engineered a coup against the duly elected government of Ukraine. Nuland, the chief architect of the coup, is back in power and raising the stakes as revenge for the loss of Crimea and the Donbas. We are paying a terrible price for these misguided policies. Ukraine represents a catastrophic failure of diplomacy.

Your nicely annotated list suggests you have been compiling over time posts by another Freeper. That, of itself, is most interesting and perhaps instructive.

You write at the end: "Man, you are consistently wrong about Ukraine."

From a different perspective, it seems most have been "wrong" about Ukraine, as the war -- or special military operation -- is not as yet finished, and neither the non-NATO Ukraine nor the non-NATO Russia have prevailed, one against the other. So as to who is "wrong," it seems everyone is. The event is not over. Strange things happen, such as our beloved war in Afghanistan, the one Obama said we could win. Twenty years later, that war has concluded by the stellar fumbling of the Biden administration.

Given the three options for us noncombatants here on Free Republic, 1) pro-Z, 2) pro-P and 3) "not my circus and not my clowns," I wish the current crop of Democrat and RINO neocons wouldn't be throwing money into an abyss. As with Afghanistan, the outcome is uncertain, but the expenditure of funds is most certain.

Approaching $32 trillion in official national debt, and with massive unfunded liabilities, it surely seems that the war "over there" is doing one thing, for certain. It is absorbing massive sums of money, from a nation mired in debt and with a current "debt ceiling" political mess ongoing. When a straw breaks the proverbial camel's back, it is certain that one straw will be blamed, but the back will indeed be broken. True for Ukraine, Russia, and certainly true for us.

Got it — thanks. Any explanation for all the wrong predictions? That’s actually the more interesting part of Cronos’ posts.

Sure Wagner leader Prigozhin, in his own words is bullshit. Okay

"We came rudely, walked with our boots all over Ukraine in search of Nazis"

"While looking for Nazis, we bumped off everyone we could"

"We approached Kyiv, ...shat our pants and pulled out"

"how have we demilitarized Ukraine? ... on the contrary, hell knows how, have militarized Ukraine.

Wagner Group: 20,000 Troops Have Died Taking Bakhmut

In a video interview posted on Telegram late Tuesday, the head of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner said that 20,000 of his troops had been killed in the battle for Bakhmut.

A sensible observation, and fine metaphor. Thanks for a thoughtful comment overall.

Can’t speak for others, but I certainly would not go through the effort to keep files on other FReepers unless I was being paid well to do so.

While we may differ from time to time on something political, as our system of governance allows, I appreciate your similar observation.

As I watch comments pro and con, there are only a few who rather consistently evidence a certain structure to their posts and comments, suggesting far more than a pastime over the morning coffee. In my case, espresso.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Ihaven’t read and watched something so vile and stupid in quite a while. It reinforces my view that some people are so stupid that they couldn’t pour piss from their boots if the instruction was on the heel.

Ukraine was devastated by Stalin in the 30’s to the point of 3-5 million dead. No wonder they fought with the German Nazi’s against the Russian Soviets. And no, they were never Russian.

As for “kleptocracy”, you do know that the prior leaders were Russian puppets like Belarus now. They were installed by Russia and it took until recently to overturn that corruption.

Ukranians are fighting tooth and nail against the illegal Russian invasion of a peaceful nation. Ukraine will come back as the people who fled the murder come back. Hopefully this time Ukraine will get long term military aid after they repell the war crime comitting terrorist Russian invaders. Ukraine ought to be admitted to NATO as a final defense against further Russian aggression.

Before WW2 there were Americans that supported communism so much they pushed the isolation non intervention...until the Soviets were attacked.

Before WW2 there were Americans who supported the Nazi’s and held rallies and flew the German swastika with pride.

I see the same happening today. People never learn, do they? Thanks for the reminder.

...and the thing is, if I did do that (keeping files on other FReepers), I would never give it away by listing 20 or so items at a time. Makes things quite obvious when one does that.

Yes, when you have a screen name that is consistently wrong, it is funny at first, then ....

I would have thought that person would stop making predictions.

The 3 options you state are incorrect
1. pro-Z? It’s not pro-Z, Zelensky is just the latest elected President of Ukraine. Putin was going to invade no matter what. The only good thing about Z is that he didn’t run.
This is pro-Ukraine or rather pro-”the little guy who is fighting off the home invaders”

2. Pro-Putin —> yes, though some conflate this with pro-Russia. It’s not clear that most Russian people support this invasion.

3. Neutral - well this can also be split into
3.1. meh
3.2. stop the killing
3.3. I support one side or the other but stop the killing.

The wrong predictions did not account for the US and nato pouring essentiallly limitless quantities of money, arms, and mercenary soldiers into the place. Nonetheless even given that, you have to notice that Russia has basically defeated two previous hoho armies and is now working on #3. Cronos is not taking that into account.

One of the fine and well-known debate strategies is to define the terms. Your imagined 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3 strategy is a re-definition of what I posted, and clever on the surface. It is also revealing.

Since your re-definition is a strategy appealing to you, I will restate my view without resort to numbers.

"Not my circus and not my clowns" and in a war -- or special military operation, as the Ruskies play their word game -- between two currently non-NATO nations, both "born" as new governments in 1991, thugs are duking it out.

"Stop the killing" is all very nice, but it is meaningless as a geopolitical phenomenon. A review of Rummel's "Power Kills" details the democide which has been going on for a very long time, with the history of the 20th century being enormously murderous. "Stop the killing" has been trotted out plenty, without effect. So your clever variant, "I support one side or the other but stop the killing" is utterly meaningless.

How this brutal, murderous event will turn out in a week, a month, a year of in decades is how it WILL turn out. Sitting in the bleaches cheering for a team is just "sports."

As to the debate and political strategy of re-definitions, fine examples in this time include redefining CO2, greenhouse, fossil, vaccine, forecasting, modeling, and even -- quelle surpise! -- NATO.

Here's something that will not be redefined, except upwards. Circa 32 trillion dollars. Poland can put a lot more financial aid to the Z government, and put it on your credit card for awhile. After all YOU are sitting about about 50% of GDP while this United States is sitting at about 122 %, so it's past time for you fine Europeans to take up the heavy lifting, because....

I say with clarity and repetition, it's not my circus and not my clowns.
