just having a discussion elsewhere on FR on Roger Waters’ frightening turn towards a fanatic hatred of Jews.

I guess there are still some people who still do remember Vera Lynn. “Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn? Remember how she said that we would meet again some sunny day? Vera, Vera, what has become of you? Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?”

(Hint: Roger never met his father some sunny day.)

My favorite is “Sentimental Journey”, the unofficial welcome-home song in 1944 and 1945. Listen to 23-year-old Doris Day purr through it in her first hit. One of the sexiest voices and obvious why she became a star.
