This is the crux of it: if Trump wins the primary there is little chance he wins the general.

If Trump does not win the primary, he will effectively take his ball and go home by either going third party or telling his supporters to stay home (which he did in Georgia). Goodwin thinks this will ensure the Dems will control the whole of government after 2024.

There is only one political party in this country. And opposing them, is only Trump.

I’ll write his name in if I have to. The GOPe will do nothing to help me, so I am not eager to vote for them.

If anybody but DJT takes the primary, whomever they are, they face certain defeat at what purports to be an “election”.

The swamp is being drained right now, and it is all happening, as needed and as it should, on bidAn’s watch.

“there is little chance he wins the general”

Ok. We’re guessing that’s a fact in some circle?

If he or she manages to defeat Trump for the nomination, there is a good chance Trump will take many of his supporters and run as a third-party candidate, or tell them to stay home, dooming the GOP nominee to defeat in the general.

It will actually doom the GOP as a major political party. Creating and maintaining a Washington Generals-style faux opposition was not cheap - the Deep State would have to start all over and spend a lot of money. /s

Crystal ball gazing is so often flawed. It should not be submitted as factual or of any weight.

Waste of time/speculation.

Trump DEFINITELY wins the primary, and then DEFINITELY beats Bite-Me in the general.

The thing about Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity is that they think Republicans could win if only they were a little more like democrats.

By all means, lets destroy the country slower by electing RINO’s.

I say, burn it to the ground and get it over with. /spit

This is the crux of it: if Trump wins the primary there is little chance he wins the general.

To phrase it differently: There is zero chance the Rs win without Trump. I say this as a DeSantis fan. No candidate besides Trump will get as many votes as Trump did in 2020. Not even close.

I think the likely scenario is that Trump wins the Republican primaries but loses in the general to Biden. DeSantis performs pretty well, so he will be the frontrunner for 2028. The downside? We have to suffer four more years of Biden Administration.

Or, republican TDS suffers stay home and refuse to vote for him or vote for Biden instead. Or, outlets like FOX, NY Post, and WSJ devote most of their ink or air time to attacking Trump instead of attacking Biden who is actually destroying the country day by day.

Firstly, its a joke at this point to think anybody else is going to beat Trump. He has a historic margin. Nobody with that large of a margin has ever failed to gain the Republican nomination.

Secondly, he doesn’t have to say or do anything. A significant chunk of his voters are what Big Data Polls’ Richard Baris calls “Trump or Bust” voters...as in 30% of them. If Trump is not on the ticket, they simply won’t show up to vote. These are low propensity voters anyway so it wouldn’t be anything unusual for them.

Contrary to the RINO Establishment propaganda, Trump is not the only Republican who can lose to Biden. He is the only one who can beat Biden.

Goodwin has no basis to make such a claim, unless the GOPe is planning on committing fraud in the primary.

Trump didn't honor the 2020 general election results because of the fraud.

Trump has said numerous times that he would honor any fair election loss.

I thought only Kaitlan Collins didn't understand that point. I thought Goodwin was better than that.

If the GOPe doesn't rig the nomination process, Trump will NOT go third party and most of his voters will NOT stay home in the general.

There is absolutely no evidence to say otherwise.

And in fact it's the GOPe that has a record of sabotaging MAGA candidates in the general election.

I’m worried about DeSantis running as a third-party candidate.
