Fact is there are fewer people applying for such jobs. Places are begging for employees, even at $14/hours or more.
Major corporations are having the same problem. One major corporation I worked at until recently had 200+ resumes for every job posting. By the end of 2020, there were job postings with no resumes. None, for more than six months.
My local Del Taco had a banner advertising $20/hr. starting pay for night shift employees.
