the Mexican President demands that Christians apologize for Columbus What do the Italians have to do with it?
I thought it was Queen Isabella who funded Columbus' trip of discovery.
If Mexico wants an apology, shouldn't it be from Spain?

Columbus conquered America in 1492 Columbus did not conquer anything. He met a few Indians collected a few artifacts, resupplied his ships and returned to Spain.
His men did some not so nice things to the natives for which they were reprimanded. But that is not the fault of the Columbus or the Pope.
None of what Columbus did could be called “conquering” because there was no occupation or lingering Political power over the native people.
