Except for that fact that 80% of the PCs running windows 10 CANNOT upgrade to Windows 11.

This is forced obsolescence.

See post 7. I thought that too but it looks like there’s a workaround.

My seven year old gaming laptop is still kicking butt and performs magnificently for all modern PC games, not on highest settings but it has been doing just fine.

This is am arbitrary money grubbing death sentence for my investment.

I wish very poor things for anything Bill Gates has ever touched. This is why it used to be trendy for Bill to get pies in the face at airports.

I can’t upgrade, and my computers aren’t that old.

There is nothing wrong with your PC. It is a Microsoft Policy decision. Almost EVERY computer that can run Windows 10 can run Windows 11. It's not a technical decision. They want a TPM2 for "security" reasons. I can't recall how to cajole Windows 11 into installing. Google it. It's simple.

“Except for that fact that 80% of the PCs running windows 10 CANNOT upgrade to Windows 11.”

My computer is three years old and I can’t.

Windows 11 is almost as bad as Vista. Can’t stand it. Will stay on Win 10 as long as I can.

So, what you have left unsaid is that if you lack the computing power to upgrade to windows 11, you are missing out on the present capabilities of computers.

That’s ok if you don’t really use a computer to exist in the Windows 11 world of Microsoft 365 and its capabilities.

I guess this will be the final straw that will get me to move all my PCs to Mint. If it weren’t for a couple of Windows programs I regularly need and use, I would have done it a while back.
