CNN insiders have branded Don Lemon a 'misogynist' and 'sexist' after he was unceremoniously fired from the network after 17 years.
Sources told DailyMail.com no one wanted to work with him after he landed himself in hot water for saying Nikki Haley was 'past her prime' as a woman.
They claimed he believed he would always have a 'get out of jail free card' because he was black and gay, 'which worked to his advantage until it couldn't'.
Lemon was dramatically sacked by CNN on Monday morning, with the TV host tweeting it out before the network released a statement.
The 57-year-old said he was 'stunned' by the move and slammed management of not having the 'decency' to tell him directly instead of through his agent.
But CNN quickly snapped back, accusing him of lying by saying he had the chance to meet with bosses after the morning show on Monday.
A source told DailyMail.com: 'Don was given every indication when he made the fake a** apology for his disgusting comments and, still, no one wanted anything to do with him.'
They continued: 'No one owes him anything. He should have had the decency to not be a misogynistic, sexist POS.
'Don truly believed he was going to always get a get out of jail free card because he is black and gay, which worked to his advantage until it couldn't.
