Bud Light Boycott Tears Republicans Apart
Newsweek ^ | April 17, 2023 | Jon Jackson

Posted on 04/18/2023 3:40:56 AM PDT by Morgana

Republicans who have pushed back on the boycott of Bud Light are facing backlash from fellow conservatives.

Perhaps the most high-profile name drawn into the controversy is Donald Trump Jr., who recently called for an end to the Bud Light boycott. But a prominent GOP committee is also being criticized by right-wing figures for backing off its attacks on Bud Light.

The calls for a boycott of Bud Light and its parent company Anheuser-Busch began soon after it was revealed that Bud Light had a partnership with transgender influencer and activist Dylan Mulvaney. The news resulted in many conservatives announcing they were switching beer brands while right-wing stars like rap-rock musician Kid Rock and country singer Travis Tritt denounced Anheuser-Busch.

Donald Trump Jr., however, defended the beverage company during a recent episode of his Triggered podcast, saying Anheuser-Busch was a large donor to GOP political campaigns and should not be subjected to a boycott.

"The company itself doesn't participate in the same leftist nonsense as the other big conglomerates," he said on Triggered. "Frankly, they don't participate in the same woke garbage that other people in the beer industry actually do, who are significantly worse offenders when I looked into it. But if they do this again, then it's on them!"

Trump's comments received some negative attention from right-wing figures like Ned Ryun, CEO of the conservative organization American Majority.

“Tears Republicans apart.” A wishful sentiment from Newsweak. I disagree with Jr., but we can still have a beer. I’m buying and it’s going to be Yuengling.

No one cares about Bud Light. It was basically fratty redneck beer.

I don’t know what got into Don Jr., but the purpose of the boycott is to FINALLY grab a scalp and let corporations know that there is a limit to how much of this woke crap we’re willing to take. To put it another way, there are things more important to conservatives than making sure the money flow to the RNC (meaning Senator McConnell) is maintained.

So maybe if InBev finally PAYS A PRICE for their antics, we won’t have to deal with as much woke crap anymore, and if it means a few dollars less for McConnell to spend on RINOs, so be it.

Those who are calling off the dogs with regard to Bud Light are generally part of the Republican donor class, who disproportionately fall into the category of socially liberal and fiscally conservative. They are unrepresentative of the base or the middle of the country.

The GOP establishment is circling the wagons around Anheuser Busch. These people don’t have any interest in pushing back against corporate wokeism or transgenderism. In fact they want to help normalize both. This is grassroots conservatism vs the establishment, as always.

I 100% completely disagree with him on this. Leads me to question whether he’s right on trans issue. . . Donald Trump Jr. opposes Bud Light boycott, citing company’s donations to Republicans.

“large donor” - one of the biggest problems w/government is the elimination of principle due to donor money.

This is how we got the trans nonsense to begin with - some billionaire likes it and funds politicians who advance it.

When it comes to beer one may always find another large donor.

No, it just exposes folks that either have no problem with trannies and all that BS or have vested interests that trump the topic. So now we know that Trump Jr cares more about vested interest than he does about a critical social issue. What about his dad? Which side is President Trump on?

Anyone who sides with any entities promoting or enacting the sexualization of children loses my support at the very least.

It’s a tell-tale sign when people submit for prospective money donations. So disappointed - the USA is for sale.

I attended two local rock concerts this past weekend.

I stood near the bar on Friday night. I saw TWO Bud Light sales. The rest were niche brands or “gourmet water”. Though, to be fair, they were restocking with Bud Light by the end of the night (perhaps in prep for Saturday).

On Saturday, at a different venue, I observed the refrigerator case where the beer for sale was kept. The rumor was that the place almost ran out of beer. The supply of Bud Light was bountiful in the case while the other beers were less bountiful, notably Miller in cans.

Both nights, the music was basically 90s grunge so it was an older (but not ancient) crowd.

This isn’t a sign of tearing apart.

It's got little to do with Bud Light. It's about the war between what's right and what's wrong.

The Woke Movement is wrong...and it is destroying America.

“It’s now a faggy beer.”

Same with Heineken when they had the degenerate homosexual Neal Harris pushing his meat in commercials. That beer has been dead to me ever since.

I also stopped ordering Subway sandwiches when they hired the pink haired lesbian skank Megan Rapinoe.

The list is very long.
