The Russians and many on FR have been claiming NATO units have been secretly fighting in Ukraine since Russia's big losses last year. There's a whole cadre of commentators here, at the foreign policy establishment, etc., who can't believe the Ukrainians fighting by themselves have beaten back the Russians.

The article says the tank was shipped from Gdynia, Poland, and presumably was transferred to them by Ukraine soldiers, or else Poland had some in storage and the US Army wanted one to examine up close. Back in the 1960s, I had a girlfriend whose husband worked doing equipment audits for the US Military. At the time he was trying to figure out how 12 US tanks (Abrams?) had disappeared while they were in Europe.

The shipping label on the tank indicated that it was headed to the US Army’s proving ground at Aberdeen.

As a native Houstonian, and frequent traveler through Beaumont, I truly have no idea why it would have come through Beaumont (except to maybe try to keep it quiet?) instead of Houston, New Orleans, NY, Philly, etc.

Attorney Tony Buzbee parked a WWII tank in front of his River Oaks home for awhile, and the HOA was pi$$ed.

I remember reading about that. Buzbee is quite a character and seems to be considering another run for mayor of Houston.
