On April 2, 2023 OPEC+ — a group of oil-producing countries led by Saudi Arabia and Russia — announced that it would cut production starting in May and extending through the end of the year. This marks the first time OPEC+ has cut production since 2018. Analysts have pegged the overall production cuts at 1.66 million bpd. At that rate, by year-end about 400 million barrels will have been removed from the market, more than offsetting last year’s SPR releases.

Might this explain the most recent 20 cents per gallon jump?
OPEC Is Back In The Driver’s Seat!
Biden cave them the keys to the car.
Oil prices back above 200 day moving average. So yes.
Draining the SPR is the worst mistake he intentionally made.
Gee, if only we were energy independent. What would it take to get us to that?
“Draining the SPR is the worst mistake he intentionally made.”
Not to put that down, but the WORST mistake is setting us on a glide path to WW3.
Thanks Joek, you POS!
You’re right on that one, of course.
Thanks Joe, you POS!
That’s what I said this morning as I was filling my gas tank. $4.00 gal.
Senile old bastard….
A new government.
If I had been suckered or conscripted into serving, or lost a son , I would be ...... well, I don't think there are words to describe the level of hostile resentment towards my own government that has been forming deep in my soul over the course of a lifetime .
Even the sight of that flag that used to give me goose bumps of pride and want to go join the military now makes me feel ashamed and sickened
Why ever would we have been in the middle east all this time? There is no real national interest for us over there except for energy, and we don’t really need that. We have enough of our own, if only we had the will.
Back in the 70s when I was first awakening to this crap I was pondering the dream that there was intelligence behind all this, and together with the peak oil theory, we were strategizing to have them run out of oil and then we would be the only ones left with our untouched resources and able to charge whatever we wanted.
I was naive back then. Today I tend to be “never attribute to malice what can be attributed to ignorance.” Certainly in politics (and company middle management).
Just in time for Summer Vacation, Gas goes to $7.00 a gallon - If we are lucky it doesn’t go higher...

I used to think the same thing.
We now understand the planet is continually producing oil and the (USA) didn’t take advantage.
Evil exists and corrupts men. So we fall as Greece, Rome, Egypt and every great civilization.
C’est la vie.

and thanks for the reply but I was half hoping you would set me straight for sounding so unpatriotic and ungrateful because I haven't always felt that way but I feel like a stranger in a strange land
