Couple tracked down the suspect after receiving an alert notifying them of transactions at Vancouver Mall
A Vancouver, Washington, couple pleaded with a carjacking suspect on Sunday to give their son back before he took off with their vehicle.
"He opens my car door, and I see my son's in there," the victim identified only as John told FOX 12 Portland. He recalled telling the suspect: "Please, my son’s in there. Give my son back. You can have my car, just give my son back."
Clark County authorities arrested Mario Andrews in connection with the incident, after the couple tracked him down at a JCPenney.
The couple, who own Happy Juice Coffee Bar in Vancouver, were setting up their food cart when Andrews allegedly jumped into their vehicle with their son in the backseat and drove off, despite their pleas to give them their 1-month-old baby.
Authorities arrested the suspect and found the couple's baby, unharmed, still inside the stolen vehicle, according to the outlet.
Clark County officials have charged Andrews with kidnapping, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, attempt to elude and failure to register as a sex offender, according to his booking information.

I would like to think that I would let my gun say please for me. If that happened to me I would gladly - gladly - spend the rest of my life in prison for driving dispatching that kidnapper to the neather world.
What is wrong with these people who would put an infant’s life at risk.
Photo of perp didn’t post.
A judge set a Vancouver man’s bail at $900,000 Monday in three new cases, including one in which he’s accused of stealing a car with a baby inside Saturday in Hazel Dell.
Mario D. Andrews, 40, appeared in Clark County Superior Court on allegations of second-degree kidnapping, theft of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, possession of a stolen vehicle, attempt to elude and failure to register as a sex offender. He is scheduled to be arraigned April 24.
Andrews’ criminal history includes numerous convictions for taking a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle. He also has a 2005 child molestation conviction and multiple convictions for failure to register as a sex offender, Arnaud said.

More detail; Convicted child molester arrested for allegedly kidnapping 1-month-old child and stealing car
I’d vote to acquit.
Gov. Jay Inslee would be proud to call Mario Andrews his son.
OMG!! The Perp is BLACK!! I am SHIOCKED!
Huh, I didn’t know that “possession of a motor vehicle” was illegal! I guess I should sell mine NOW.
The only way this national crime wave is going to end would be with much more severe penalties. I would advocate:
(a) a return to the death penalty for all capital crimes;
(b) a minimum of 20 years for violent crimes, and 10 years for car theft without violence, but raised to 15 years where the car theft included the kidnapping of children (whether intended or not).
(c) a minimum of 10 years for all thefts over $500, but 15 years for catalytic converter theft, and 10 years for knowingly receiving proceeds of thefts.
The current sentences are clearly not enough of a deterrent and even if these would not be, at least the perps would be out of circulation longer.
And the couple should get to select the tree to suspend him from.
And I have a pretty good reason for “acquitting” the felon. Hard to reach out and touch someone when they are in the slammer.
What a pussy that father was... begged? And what happened to the old mama bear thing?
A weak showing.
They tracked him, saw him open the car door and saw their baby, and simped and begged. He drove away with the kid. So they tracked him again, and got a cop there?
What a man. /s
What a momma bear. /s
When they found him the first time BOTH parents should have all out attacked and fought like the third monkey.
Idiots.
You never leave your kid in an unattended vehicle!!
