This is the book/edition they are speaking of. NOT the one we read in school

A timeless story rediscovered by each new generation, The Diary of a Young Girl stands without peer. This graphic edition remains faithful to the original, while the stunning illustrations interpret and add layers of visual meaning and immediacy to this classic work of Holocaust literature.
For both young readers and adults The Diary continues to capture the remarkable spirit of Anne Frank, who for a time survived the worst horror the modern world has seen—and who remained triumphantly and heartbreakingly human throughout her ordeal.

So, the current crop of kids require picture books. Got it.
One of the reviews on the book in question-—
“I got this for my 9 and 11 year old to teach them about Anne Frank and the Holocaust and instead of learning about that they learned about how Anne Frank had feelings for girls and to touch other girls breasts and her enjoyment in taking baths with adults. Also, they added in a scene where the Dad is naked and leaving the room implying he raped Anne Frank. This is not in the original and simply fits an agenda of exposing and harming children.”
