The mayor of Miami Beach wants to cancel Spring Break as footage emerged of the moment a man was shot dead on a sidewalk during another wild weekend of partying.
'We haven’t asked for spring break in our city. We don’t want spring break in our city. It’s too rowdy, brings too much disorder and is simply too difficult to police,' said Democratic mayor Dan Gelber.
The chaotic weekend saw two men shot dead and partygoers jumping on a car, brawling in streets and even trashing a slushie shop on the main drag despite the city instituting a curfew on Sunday night.
Footage showed the horrifying moment one man was shot execution-style on Ocean Drive early Sunday morning as two groups of revelers crossed paths.

In the late 1980s, Virginia Beach had the same problem. They solved it by canceling all “events” known to attract a certain demographic from Philadelphia and New York, combined with vigorous enforcement directed at tourists and rather solicitous protection of locals working at the oceanfront.
Yes, there were accusations of racism. Officialdom didn’t care.
It worked.

Everywhere “spring break” goes it’s been kicked out or special ordinances have been implemented….Ft Lauderdale, Pensacola, Hilton Head, Panama City, Virginia Beach,……let ‘em go to Mexico.
Well we should blame coppertone. Miami fun in the sun, maybe too much sun exposure and tanning lotion this year.

In years past, it’s been the “Juneteenth” crowd that was out of control. I believe various FL communities took steps to make themselves unwelcoming to the Juneteenth crowd...looks like they must do the same for these “Spring Breakers”. I would think that strict enforcement of hotel occupancies would help, and maybe some laws establishing “no rental” periods for AirBnB, Vrbo short-term private rentals.

It’s not the “Spring Break” kids. It’s the demographics of the Spring Break people they are getting.
Somehow I doubt that Georgia Tech and MIT students go on shooting sprees during their breaks.
I’m guessing it’s some of those deeply tanned yutes?
