In the ‘70’s and ‘80’s there was a reptile zoo in Miami Florida, along US1. Called the Miami Serpentarium. The founder, Bill Haast, progressively dosed himself with larger and larger quantities of toxic serpent venom to make himself immune when he handled the snakes. The man survived multiple snakebites that would have killed any other human being.

There was a book by the snake handler. Title: Cobras in His Garden.
Parents bought it at the attraction in the 1960s.
