I watch a lot of British television on BritBox and it’s inexpensive - $8.47/month.

I also watch a lot of free movies on tubi. Crackle as well.

The Roku channel has a lot of free movies as well.

If you have Amazon Prime they have a lot of movies as well.

Classic Movies+ has a few good movies.

I have at times subscribed to History Vault and the Smithsonian Channel.

If you’re a sports fan of a non-Power5 conference team ESPN+ has a lot games for those teams for about $10/month. The camera work and commentary is usually not as good as the main networks, but it’s worth the money. It allows me to watch all of my team’s away games (I go to home games.).

Mainly, just go online to the Roku website and browse through the huge selection and try some. Probably most are free. You can delete them later if you don’t like them.

One thing about movies though: it’s amazing how many movies are available and how few have any appeal to me. I have to search and search and search.

A tip.
Not all the movies they have are listed on their main screen apparently.
The search function can show some movies that may not show up on their main screen..

Type in an P, as an example, and a bunch of Movies beginning with P pop up

Don’t let the years next to the Movies in search throw you.
They’re the classics..

With Six You Get Eggroll didn’t come out in 2021, but maybe that’s when they added it..
:)

ON ROKU, there is a SEARCH option. So, if you type in a TV Show or Movie, ROKU will find all channels or Apps that carry that show, and whether it’s free or not. If you haven’t installed the relevant App, it will automatically install it for you.

They might have a “what bank did I leave my money at?” channel. ;-)

We have an LG Smart TV and unfortunately a lot of the services don’t build apps specific for the LG so we have Amazon Firesticks. We wanted the Frndly app for the History Channel.

UP Faith & Family and Freevee are both offered on Prime.

The UP one is very family friendly.

As others have suggested, Pluto, a definite. Free of charge
with a great many channel options for viewing.

Other Apps to install are RSBN, Real America’s Voice both
excellent Conservative news sites which are freely available.

FreeVee, a free to view app which includes episodes of popular tv shows. LOL the old Perry Mason of the 1950-60s is always a favorite.
Thi DH enjoys the X Files. This app also
includes various movies which change on a month to month(?) basis.

This link might offer some degree of help.

1. Pluto tv is the better. They have hundreds of shows and thousands of episodes of tv and movies. All FREE.
2. Tubi - Free. Has many shows that did not get to 100 episodes for syndication.
3. Youtube <- you use your pc and click on the Subscribe button to channels you like at youtube. They show up in the Roku / Youtube app.
I have many like Dry Bar Comedy (g-rated), Jay Leno’s Garage, Gordon Ramsey, Free Documentary, LandumC goes there (movies), farm videos like Millennium Farmer, Spark documentary, Wallace & Gromit, A Word on Westerns, Adam Savage’s Tested, various other shows. All FREE.

4. Amazons Prime Video. You get this if you pay for Prime shipping at Amazon.
5. Sling TV is cable but more channels. They have been raising their prices and are now at $41.95 and up.

The only reason I still have cable is because of my love for the Detroit Red Wings, it’s part of the Spectrum cable lineup (Bally’s channel). The only other avenues are an expensive and exclusive “Bally’s” subscription, where I hear the streaming service is terrible, or the NHL subscription - but I’m in Detroit so my locality blacks me out and I’m not going to get a VPN service to just get around it.

...unless anyone can point me to something else?

The last season is very good, but sad. Only because it is the end of the series. Will start watching it all over again. Why can’t we make shows like this?

Thank you. I am going to work on this. It will save me a bundle if I don’t need to pay for cable.

We aren’t able to sign up for Acorn for some reason. We did it before with no problem, then cancelled. Tried again with no luck. Their customer service is ... not; you cannot reach anybody.

We keep watching to see if it shows up free for a while. It did before.

It is SUCH a good series.

You set it up through your internet router. It hasan ip address so all you need to do is when it tries to connect to your network, enter in your network password and it should connect right up.
