China pummeled by ‘rain of worms’ as residents asked to carry umbrellas

China needs to call Rihanna for some umbrellas to weather this phenomenon of nature.

Citizens of the Chinese province of Liaoning were told to find shelter after it looked like it started to rain worms.

A viral clip showed the area apparently being showered with little worms, which were splattered all over cars.

The video showed residents covering themselves with umbrellas as they go along with their routines and wander past.

While the cause of the slimy creature calamity has yet to be uncovered, the scientific journal Mother Nature Network suggested that the animals were dropped after being swept up by heavy winds.

The periodical also noted that this type of occurrence happens after a storm when insects are caught up in a whirlpool.

Another theory suggested that the worms were actually poplar flowers — a tulip tree whose blooms resemble the squirmy beasts

I saw something similar to this in central Florida when I was a kid (70’s) but not nearly this amount of worms.

Good day to be a bird!

I call BS, low quality photos and no close ups.

I mean.. you would have to purposely lower the camera settings on your photo to take a photo of that low quality today. Looks like your standard big foot photo!

Liaoning, spent too much time in Shenyang. It’s usually a layer of soot that’s all over everything.

Actually it’s not THAT uncommon of a phenomenon....doing a web search for “raining fish” results in a lot of instances.....many times fish and other small aquatic mammals get sucked up in water spouts and then dropped elsewhere.

LOL — Definitely NOT worms. Seed clusters blown from trees by high winds.

I think you’re right. Looks like those pods that poplar trees put out.

My wife is from Shenyang and I know what you are talking about. The morning sky usually has a yellowish brown tint to it. She was amazed by how clean the air is here in the United States.

These things are covering a city, but they can’t tell what they are? Or is this a clickbait headline? (Nevermind)

She only had to go to Chengdu for that but yeah, it’s a lot cleaner here. What amazed me was how well the nose acts as an air filter when it really has to. Saw how well it worked every night blowing it out in the shower, ooof.

So, you are proposing that the world’s oldest civilization doesn’t know what seed clusters look like?
