I certainly hope the findings aren’t applicable to CBD.

So, what does being a politician lead too ?
Hardening of the Heart.
The Bible considers the heart to be the hub of human personality, producing the things we would ordinarily ascribe to the “mind.”
For example, Scripture informs us that grief (John 14:1); desires (Matthew 5:28); joy (Ephesians 5:19); understanding (Isaiah 6:10; Matthew 13:15);
thoughts and reasoning (Genesis 6:5; Hebrews 4:12; Mark 2:8); and, most importantly, faith and belief (Hebrews 3:12; Romans 10:10; Mark 11:23) are all products of the heart.
Also, Jesus tells us that the heart is a repository for good and evil and that what comes out of our mouth – good or bad – begins in the heart (Luke 6:43–45).

1/3 more likely? It’d have to be a lot worse than that for people to stop using it. I suspect eating red meat several times a week is at least as bad, but most people don’t give that up either.

Any correlation with the rest of their lifestyles?
I do believe drugs are bad for you but drug users overall are probably less concerned with their health to begin with.
On the other hand, I do not wish to judge people already in pain.

Re: "Daily marijuana users are one-third more likely to develop coronary artery disease (CAD)."
Before Covid, 10% of total USA deaths were caused by coronary artery disease.
So, before Covid, life time risk of a CAD fatality for daily marijuana smokers was 13.4% - plus 3.4% risk.
