Aside from Davis’s hilarious discovery that there was a “whitey in the woodpile” of her genealogy, there were also over 4,000 BLACK slave OWNERS in colonial America. AND…the British didn’t only enslave black Africans; they also enslaved thousands of WHITE people from Ireland.

It’s ridiculous that we even talk about this subject at all in 2023. EVERYONE was involved in some way on BOTH sides of the slave trade. There were black slaves and white slaves, there were white slave owners and there were black slave owners. Even the vaunted “native Americans” routinely took slaves from rival tribes they defeated in battle, as did the African ancestors of today’s “African Americans.” In fact, the North American slave trade may not have happened at all if not for the black African tribal chiefs, who had their rivals rounded up and caged on the beaches of west Africa, to be picked up by Dutch slave traders.
