The thugs had opened the car door(s) and were trying to pull the kids out. The article says they were almost home, around the corner. So maybe the kids headed for their house. Hope they weren't followed.
Terrorizing kids—that is some depaved behavior there. Assuming any are caught, they'll probably all be out immediately on no-bail, charged with "disturbing the peace."
That was before mothers—and grandmothers—had full-time jobs in addition to taking care of the kids and house.
I saw that but hard to understand why they would run away from where the adults/parents were. I hope we get some follow up on this. We can see what a lot of noise and protests about that School superintendent in NJ accomplished after that young girl committed suicide due to bullying and his crude out of place remarks about the family - he resigned his job. He should have been fired before he got that chance.
Sacramento needs to organize protests about the hooligan behavior of some of their residents. The cops obviously knew those street races or whatever were taking place and they should have been there clearing that intersection for all citizens to travel safely. Any street - any intersection. Bet it’s not happening in the “better” parts of that city!!! Lived not far from there in the seventies so I can only speak to what it was known for then.
Maybe they’re tired of seeing the perpetrators arrested and freed immediately also. They certainly know the problem areas of their city. Or we’ll hear that “resources” won’t allow them to patrol the streets. Then WHAT do they do? Sit at the local coffee shop?
Another poster had the perfect solution - seize their automobiles...AND ARREST all the joy drivers/riders/spectators!!! Make their fun HURT and expensive!
