There’s lots of people in the military that don’t fire weapons, all of which deserve our respect. Multiple medical deferments and the like, not so much.

He was a Navy lawyer. Like Hunter, like Beau Biden, like Buttigig. Lawyers are kinda military… but kinda not. Buttigieg wasn't a Navy lawyer. He did get his commission via the DCO route.
Both Biden and DeSantis did their OBC at University of Virginia.
They both did their part. And then there are guys like Tom Cotton, who went above and beyond.
